hese prices are effective February 15, 2012 and are subject to change without notice.The goods and services shown below are those that we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire. However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide, describing the funeral goods and services you selected.
BASIC SERVICES OF FUNERAL DIRECTOR AND STAFF - $2600.00
Our charge includes consultation with the family or responsible party; staff and facilities to respond to initial request for service; coordinating service plans that include the cemetery, crematory, and/or other parties involved in the final disposition of the deceased. This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremation, immediate burials and forwarding or receiving remains.
EMBALMING - $ 595.00
Except in certain special cases, law does not require embalming. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial. It is the policy of our funeral home that if remains are present in our funeral home for an expected time greater than 24 hours from the time of death (and refrigeration is unavailable), for the health and welfare of the funeral staff, the body shall be cremated, interred or embalmed.
OTHER PREPARATION OF THE BODY - $100.00
Sanitary handling of the remains for cremation or immediate burial.

Additional mileage charge for transportation beyond local area @ $3.00/mile one way Unless otherwise noted, all transportation charges contained in the General Price List apply to local area within 30 miles of the Funeral Home.

BURIAL VAULTS - $1495.00 to $2995.00

FORWARDING REMAINS TO ANOTHER FUNERAL HOME - $3395.00
Our charges for forwarding remains include:

Removal of the deceased from the place of death to funeral home
Local transportation (Airline or other shipping charges not included)
A casket, if chosen, would be in addition to the above.
Air Tray for shipping remains via airline - $200.00

Our charge for an immediate burial (without ceremony) includes:

DIRECT CREMATION - $3300.00
Our charge for direct cremation, without ceremony, includes:
Initial transfer of the deceased from the place of death to the funeral home
Transportation to the crematory and retrieval of cremains
Services of staff (includes coordinating services, paper notices, flower arrangements, clergy, burial / scattering of cremains, etc.)
Crematory fee with alternative container and ME Permit If you choose to arrange for a direct cremation, a casket is not required. An alternative container constructed of fiberboard or composition materials with or without an outside covering will be used for cremation. The containers we provide consist of a disposable burial pouch and a container constructed of corrugated cardboard reinforced that is provided by the crematory for the safe, respectful and healthful handling of the deceased.
DIRECT CREMATION - $2995.00
Initial transfer of the deceased from the place of death to funeral home
Staff services (filing death certificate, Social Security notification, securing permits) If requesting additional assistance such as paper notices, coordinating services etc., please refer to Direct Cremation 14.A above

BODY DONATION TO A MEDICAL SCHOOL OR FACILITY - $995.00
Our charge for assisting families with body donation includes:
Removal of the deceased from the place of death to our funeral home
Transportation to Medical School (UVM or Dartmouth)
Minimum services of staff: Securing death certificate and filing, secure
Burial Transit Permit and final disposition papers. These charges and services do not include a ceremony, obituary, certified copies of the death certificate or other arrangements. You may make arrangements with our firm for funeral services following the completion of the anatomical gift. Disclosure statement (1)
Our basic service charge includes a $6.00 fee that will be sent to the State
of Vermont and set aside for the protection of funeral service customers. -->
Disclosure statement (2) Funds may be available for final disposition through the State of Vermont PATH Department General Assistance program for persons who qualify.

Burial Vault Price List
These prices are effective February 15, 2012 and are subject to change without notice. In most areas of the country, there are no local or state laws that require you to purchase a container to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container to prevent the grave, over time, from sinking in. Either a burial vault or grave liner will satisfy this requirement.
